- Traverse beautiful mountain scapes from valleys and dense forests to high mountain passes.

- Visit the Takin (National Animal) preserve and the roosting habitat of the famous endangered black necked cranes observing the migratory birds in flight.
- Experience fabulous views of Toepisa village and its rice/paddy fields, and real time immersion in a Yathra weaving factory in Zungney Village, Chumey to see the Yathra fabrics being woven.
- Spend time marveling at the ancient wall paintings and exquisite architecture of Dzongs and temples.
- Discover some of the most sacred Buddhist monasteries and temples in the Himalaya.
- Visit many cultural attractions including medieval fortresses (Dzongs), nunnery, village homestays, monuments, and traditional institutes.

Like all adventure itineraries, this is our proposed 13 days hiking adventure itinerary. We may follow it exactly or modify it based on weather conditions, new opportunities, or airline schedules. If you are coming from North America, you will likely need to depart and be at the Bangkok International Airport by the morning of the flight.

- Arrive at Paro International Airport (2300 mtr. a.s.l)
- Depart towards Thimphu city (2400 mtr. a.s.l), the capital of Bhutan
- On arrival check in hotel for rest and acclimatization
- Visit the National Memorial Choeten (Stupa)
- Visit to the Takin Enclosure Zoo at Motithang
- Undertake a short hike (2 hrs.) to Wangditse Monastery, Thimphu
- Visit the Drupthob Thangtong Nunnery at Zilukha
Overnight in Thimphu.

- After breakfast, drive towards Dodeyna (30 mins.) in North Thimphu
- On arrival, begin hike towards 17th century Cheri Monastery (45 mins.)
- Afternoon, visit the National Institute for Zorig Chusm (13 Arts & Crafts)
- Stroll and undertake some sightseeing in Thimphu city vicinity

- After breakfast, depart to Punakha valley (1200 mtr. a.s.l)
- Enroute, halt at Dochula Pass (3150 mtr. a.s.l) for a visit to Druk Wangyel Monastery
- Drive down towards Lumitsawa village to begin hike to Toep Ronchu stream
- Hike past small villages, rice paddy fields, oak and rhododendron forests
- Enroute, halt for a picnic lunch and continue hike towards Toepisa village
- From Toepisa village, proceed on foot to Nalanda Monastic School
- Drive to Punakha to check in a hotel

- Drive towards Yebesa village to hike and visit Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Choeten
- Visit to and tour the Punakha Dzong (Fortress)

- After breakfast, drive towards Gangtey, Phobjikha valley via Wandiphodrang
- Enroute, halt at Longtey village to begin hike to the Phobjikha valley (3000 mtr.a.s.l)
- On the way, stop for a lunch before descent to Khumbu Lhakang at Phobjikha
- On arrival, board vehicle and head to hotel for check in
Overnight in Phobjikha, Wangdiphodrang.

- Morning, undertake a full day circumnavigation of the Phobjikha valley
- Walk to visit the Black-Necked Crane Information Center managed by RSPN
- Continue on foot to visit Beyta village and the community school
- Walk further towards Gangtey Gompa Monastery for a visit and tour
- Resume walk along the Gangtey Nature Trail, past Semchubara village,
- Along the route observe the Cranes roosting habitat and proceed towards Kingathang village to visit a temple
- From Kingathang, walk via Yusa village to reach hotel
Overnight in Phobjikha, Wangdiphodrang

- After breakfast, drive to Bumthang valley via Trongsa district
- Enroute, halt at Chendebji Stupa for scenic views and rest
- Continue drive to Trongsa viewpoint, on reaching have lunch and begin hike on the Mangdue Foot trail down to Trongsa Dzong (2 hrs.)
- On arrival, visit and tour the Trongsa Dzong (Fortress)
- From the fortress, walk to car parking lot to board the vehicle
- Continue journey towards Bumthang valley via Yutogla Pass (3450 mtr. a.s.l)
Overnight in Chumey, Bumthang.

- On arrival, visit and tour Domkhar Palace
- Visit the Yathra factory in Zungney village at Chumey to observew eaving practices
- Continue drive towards Jakar valley
- Visit and tour Jambay lhakhang and Kurjey lhakhang in Jakar
- Enroute, visit and tour Tamzhing Monastery
- Evening, leisure stroll around Chamkhar town
Overnight in Jakar, Bumthang.

- On arrival, visit Ura Monastery and a village home
- Continue drive on a dirt road towards Shingkhar village (30 mins.)
- On arrival, explore Shingkhar village on foot and visit the community school

- Retrace drive back to hotel in Jakar in Bumthang valley

- Visit Paro Ta Dzong (National Museum) and Rinpung Dzong (Fortress)
